ABSTRACT: Exploring the benefits of early childhood education in supporting indigenous languages aims to preserve linguistic diversity and cultural heritage. This study examines how early childhood education programs contribute to supporting indigenous languages. The objectives are to (1) assess improvements in children's language proficiency and cultural identity, (2) evaluate the integration of indigenous language activities in early childhood education curricula, and (3) examine changes in community attitudes towards language preservation. A survey design is justified as it facilitates comprehensive data collection on educational impacts on language support. A purposive sample of 110 children aged 4-6 years, from indigenous communities in Plateau State, ensures relevant experiences. The case study focuses on an early childhood education center known for its efforts in indigenous language revitalization. Findings revealed significant improvements in language proficiency and cultural identity, effectiveness of indigenous language activities, and positive changes in community support for language preservation. Recommendations include integrating indigenous language education into early childhood curricula and collaborating with community elders and language experts to develop culturally appropriate language materials.
